A temporary home for sick children
Around 10,000 children in Switzerland live with potentially life-limiting illnesses. Children with complex medical needs spend a lot of time in hospital. This is where allani fills an important gap in the Swiss healthcare system: allani opened in summer 2024 as Switzerland's first children's hospice.
Allani creates a uniquely supportive environment for families with children suffering from life-limiting conditions. In a beautifully renovated farmhouse near Bern, children and their families receive professional care, valuable respite and space to spend time together in dignity and comfort. Allani offers repeat stays, short-term care and end-of-life care.
Dependent on donations
In contrast to most other European countries, hospice funding is not anchored in Swiss law. Only part of the operating costs are covered by insurance and public funds, which is why allani continues to rely mainly on donations and support for now.
