Dream Mile returns to Interlaken

Records and anniversaries have meant a great deal to people since time began. Milestones achieved in light athletics decades ago remain immortal. For instance that of Englishman Roger Bannister, who on 6 May 1954, became the first man to run the mile (1609 metres) in under four minutes. The term «dream mile» was born.

The Jungfrau Mile will take place on the day before the 19th Jungfrau Marathon as an invitation race and a unique battle between men and women. Top Swiss runners and several ace athletes from other nations will compete in this street mile!

Women runners begin the street mile with a 30-second start. The men must attempt to make up this time handicap. Each quarter of a mile is marked by an outsized arch. There is only one winner of the Jungfrau Mile - the first man or woman to reach the finishing line.

Attractive prizes await the first four runners:
CHF 1609.- / CHF 1207.- / CHF 805.- and CHF 403.-. And a bonus of CHF 3500.- is waiting for anyone who runs a dream mile in under four minutes!

The Jungfrau Mile is thus the "starting pistol" for a weekend in which runners rule the Jungfrau Region.

Integration of the Jungfrau Mile into the Post-Cup 2011!
For the seventh time, the Jungfrau Mile will count as the only middle-distance road race in the Post Cup programme. This year sees the 7 th event.

To quote a top middle-distance runner, «At last a once-a-year opportunity for us middle-distance runners to also be put in the spotlight on the roads in a positive sense!»

The Post Cup is organized by the Swiss Post and the club Swiss Runners. The aim of the race initiators is to encourage the Swiss running elite and motivate an increasing number of athletes to take up running as a sport.
Eligible for ranking are all Swiss male and female runners eligible to start for national and international Swiss Athletics.
