In general
The masculine form is always used in these regulations; however the respective statements naturally also apply to the feminine form.
Categories
M/F 20, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70
If fewer than five runners are classified in a category, the respective category will not be evaluated and the runners allocated to the next lower age category.

Jungfrau Marathon entry terms & conditions
All persons who have reached the age of 18 are eligible to enter. The event will be held in accordance with the regulations of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) the Association of International Marathons and Road Races (AIMS) and Swiss Athletics. The official marathon course must be adhered to and directives by course officials must be followed. Only persons who have signed the athletes declaration on the start card without any provisions and deletions/amendments are eligible to start.
Whenever possible, participants will be informed of organizational measures before the start of the event. The organizers' instructions must be unconditionally followed. The organizers have the right, at any time and also during the race, to exclude from the event and/or disqualify anyone causing disturbance to the normal course of the event or endangering the safety of himself or other participants.
These entry terms & conditions are subject to occasional change. The edition valid at the time of entry application is an integral part of the contract between the organizers and participant. Amendments announced by the organizers before the start of the race, on Internet or in written form, from an integral part of the contract. The same applies to amendments made by the organizers before or during the race.

Health
This Alpine challenge is only suitable for extremely well-trained runners. It is dangerous to run the race after an infectious illness (e.g. angina, flu) or even with a temperature. We appeal to the common sense and own responsibility of the participant (the Jungfrau Marathon takes place every year).

Doping tests
The current Swiss Olympic doping regulations apply to this competition. Doping tests can be carried out. By taking part, runners subject themselves to the anti-doping regulations of Swiss Olympic and acknowledge the exclusive jurisdiction of the Swiss Olympic Disciplinary Board for doping cases as well as the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne to the exclusion of courts of general jurisdiction. Escort vehicles and sports equipment
Private escort vehicles (motorized or non-motorized) and escorting persons on bicycles or suchlike are prohibited. Participation in the Jungfrau Marathon using aids and sports equipment (in particular poles) is prohibited and will result in disqualification.

Disqualification
Fairness at the Jungfrau Marathon! Disqualification will be declared for unsporting behaviour (e.g. not passing through check and time-monitoring points, taking short cuts, escorts, use of aids such as poles, ignoring official instructions, drug use) and for giving false personal details (name, age). It is also forbidden to pass a personal start number to another person without compliance with the official transfer procedure.
During the race the start number must be fixed either on the chest or a start number belt. It may not be modified or folded and must be clearly visible at all times. Disqualifications will be the final decision of the jury (race management and person in charge of finishing area). Objections must be made in writing and lodged with the person in charge of the finishing area by the latest 30 minutes after the official closure of the finishing line. An administration charge of CHF 50.00 will be levied, which is to be paid immediately but will be refunded should the objection be upheld.

Transfers
The transfer of an acquired starting place must be notified to the secretary. An administration charge of CHF 20.00 will be levied for transfers made from 1 July. Transfers after 20 August may only be made at the Help Desk at the Marathon Expo.
The start number fee and administration charge of CHF 20.00 must be paid at the Help Desk on the issue of the start number.

Final check - intermediate times
Time limit Kleine Scheidegg 6 hrs 30 min.
Runners who exceed the final check - intermediate times (gross running time is decisive) will not be classified and may no longer make use of the marathon services (refreshments, first aid, check points, ranking lists, medals, finisher shirt etc.).
The marathon course will be closed after the following final check - intermediate times:
Lauterbrunnen railway station (19.6 km) 2 h 25 min. after starting signal (net running time irrelevant)
Wengen railway station (30.3 km) 4 h 10 min. after starting signal (net running time irrelevant)
Wengernalp, Wixi branch-off (37.9 km) 5 h 35 min. after starting signal (net running time irrelevant)
Each runner will receive a personally coded data chip with his start number. Use of a private data chip is not permitted.

Dropping out
Any runner dropping out of the race must notify the next first aid post and hand in his chip there in return for a receipt. A charge of CHF 50.00 will be made for non-returned data chips.
The costs of searching for a runner who has not provided notification of dropping out will be charged to the person involved.
The start number is valid for travel to Kleine Scheidegg, where personal effects and valuables must be picked up.

Liability
Insurance is the responsibility of the participant. Every athlete must be insured against accident. The Jungfrau Marathon Association accepts no liability whatsoever in the event of accident or illness. Should a registered participant fail to appear at the start or not inform the organizers beforehand of non-participation, no entitlement to repayment of the entry fee will be granted - including with production of a doctor's certificate. The organizers accept no responsibility whatsoever for items held in care.

Prizes and prize money
The starting fee is CHF 135.00.
The starting fee is stated by the organizers in Swiss francs. Prices given in Euros are intended as a guideline only and will be periodically adjusted.
After returning the time-measurement chip on Kleine Scheidegg, each finisher will receive the official finisher shirt and Jungfrau Marathon medal. Finisher diplomas will be printed out on the race day at special terminals in Interlaken (Marathon-Expo) and Lauterbrunnen. Participants can also print out their diplomas via Internet. No diplomas will be sent.
Prize money totalling CHF 54,700* (incl. sprint premiums **) can be won at the Jungfrau Marathon. The total prize amount (incl. prizes in kind) is CHF 68,000. The first three classified in each category will receive valuable prizes in kind donated by municipalities, companies and hotels in the Jungfrau-Region. The prizes will only be presented at the official prize-giving ceremony.

Data protection declaration
The following conditions apply to the acquisition and use of your personal data for holding our running event.
Which data do we process?
You must provide your name, first name, address, year of birth and nationality for the correct registration and holding of our running event. You have the option of registering other persons. In this case, we assume that you are authorized to pass on the details of the persons concerned. The provision of your mobile phone number and/or e-mail address for receiving information on the event is made voluntarily by you. The provision of your e-mail address is essential for online registration, as this is required for confirmation and any possible queries.

Administration of personal data
We work together with external specialist companies to hold the running event and save and administrate your data electronically. These companies process your personal data on our behalf. If you register online, you can change your data at any time via your electronic user account at www.datasport.ch.

Agreement to data processing
With your registration you agree to the publication of your name, first name, year of birth, place of residence, nationality, start number, finishing time and ranking in the event's start and ranking lists. This agreement applies to publication on Internet, in the printed media, on TV and Teletext as well as the posting of lists and announcements by commentators.
Photographs taken and films made in connection with our running event may be used on TV, on Internet, in our own advertising media, magazines and books without entitlement to remuneration.
Without written notification to the contrary provided to us at the above postal address up to two weeks before the event, your name, postal and e-mail addresses may be passed on to partners (e.g. photo and video services) for services or publicity purposes or upon request to sponsors for targeted mailing in connection with the running event. We also have the right to pass on the above-mentioned information to other running-event organizers of the Swiss Runners Association for the provision of information on other running events.
